There are times in our life when we can feel overwhelmed just by our day to day responsibilities and demands of life. If it seems to be non-stop, that’s because it is. There are days when you feel like everything has been scheduled for you and you had nothing to do with it. This includes people, events, appointments, spaces and places coming from all ends.
Well for your own personal well being let’s take note of what Jesus did from time to time. He would take a breather! He would stop everything and take off alone to a mountain side. To pray, meditate, think or just simply shut down for a moment to breathe.
When was the last time you went to a park and just sat on a bench in silence? Listening to the sound of the leaves as a gentle breeze blows through them, the birds singing in the distance. When was the last time you walked on a beach with sand in your toes and the sound of waves crashing on the shore line, the sun warming your face? Watching a sunset or sunrise? How about just sitting on the back porch gazing at the stars?
You may feel you don’t deserve these moments but you do. By virtue of you being you these moments have been earned. So take them, having no agenda for that moment but to breathe. Take a breather every so often and see how refreshed and more productive you become. The truth is everyone needs to breathe.
